Apple Cake, Photo 1

Peel and chop your apples to make the sauce ... First, note you need apple sauce for this recipe. So start by making that.

What's that? "Make apple sauce?!?! No, SJ, you *buy* apple sauce, from the store!" Well, yes, you could. But why bother? It's no trouble to whip up your own, and I'm sure it'll taste far, far superior. Just make sure to do it at some point when you're already around the house - don't go off and leave it unattended on the stove! After dinner one night would work just fine.

So yes, gather your apples ... I used these three granny smiths, and got about a cup of sauce in the end.

Peel them, chop them into chunks ...
