Roasted garlic and tomato pasta, with broth dish; lemon blueberry teacake for dessert. Roasted garlic and tomato pasta (adapted from this) with some boerewors sausage thrown in, with broth dish; lemon blueberry teacake (adapted from this) with whipped cream for dessert.

The pasta dish came out really well, though I'm really glad I lowered the amount of pasta that went into it. It called for cherry tomatoes originally, too, but those were £1.65 per pound, and the regular tomatoes I used were £0.69 per pound, so, um, yeah. Plus, they get mashed in the end anyways, so there's no point in using anything other than whatever looks like it's tastiest and cheapest. But, anyways, this was really good. I threw in a link of sausage (only one link, yes, because it was over half a pound (by weight)), which was very yummy. The broth dish, sadly, didn't come out well; we used a different kind of soy sauce, and it actually tasted burnt because of that. May need to go back to the old kind, even though it is thrice as expensive. Blegh.

The cake was quite nice, even if all the blueberries did sink to the bottom. Hee. This night, we just had it plain, with the whipped cream, without the glaze. I figured I'd try it this way first, and then try it with the glaze the second night; I've been finding most things don't need the glaze/frosting/icing/etc for my taste. We decided it wasn't too sweet to forego the glaze altogether, so we tried it Wednesday night. Tis a very good cake, though.
