Oddly, here they don't differentiate between white and yellow onions: all the onions I've seen are actually yellow (or red - technically purple - or green, same as the States), not white. But the yellow ones here aren't sweet like the yellow ones back home. These usually come from Spain, though sometimes I see they've come from the UK.
