Travelling between Chatsworth and where we live, we pass through the scenic Peak District, whose moors and hills shift regularly, causing roads to need patching quite regularly. So, they've gotten smart and have installed a traffic light here, instead of a guy holding a sign at either end of the road works. I've never seen such intelligence in the US when it comes to roadworks. (Chris argues it's laziness; he may be right).
